English Language Challenge

Hi classmates 👀 I hope you are fine Today I will talk to you about the topic that bring us together in this blog: English. First, I want to say that for me English is a difficult subject. When I studied at school, I always felt anxious about the English subject. I did not understand the language and I was nervous to speak it, so, generally, I avoided all situations related to English (For example, I never watched subtitled movies). Now, I think maybe I felt that way because my school never gave me a good English base. For a long time, I didn’t like or find useful to speak English. However, this situation changed when I traveled to the United States. In this moment I felt very vulnerable, because I could not communicate or understand people. For this reason, when I returned to Chile I thought: “Wow, I really need to speak English, I have to learn”. Also, on this trip I realized that it was more difficult for me to speak that to understand English. For example, sometimes I un...

Changes to my Study Programme

Hi! Welcome back everyone ✌ Today I will talk about some changes that I would like to make in my Study Program If I could. Currently, I am studying my third year of Psychology at the University of Chile. I must say that I really love my career and I really like my university, but I also think that some changes in the program are necessary. First, I think it is necessary to change some first – year subjects. If I am honest, in my experience, the subject of Philosophy has not contributed anything to me in my studies in Psychology. I think this subject should be replaced for another course of Epistemology of the Social Sciences. Second, in my opinion, all courses of the career should have a gender focus. Currently, many subjects offer only texts created by men, so that, it is necessary to read more female authors. Third, in my view, it is necessary to add more instances of discussion and participation in the classes. Many psychology classes are only based on listening to the teacher s...

Personal Opinions

Hello again classmates! 😛 I hope you are fine.  Today I will talk about "Personal Opinions"  First, I want to say that our personal opinions are important. It is valuable to share our different points of view with others. I think that sharing our opinions makes us reflect, learn, empathize and grow personally. I think, it is very important to take certain elements into account when we are giving an opinion:  (1) We don't have the absolute truth.  (2) Our opinion is invalid if it offends others. For example, racist, xenophobic and homophobic views are invalid. These comments are violent.  (3) The tone of voice and gestures are important when giving an opinion.  (4) We must be empathetic when we give an opinion.  Personally, I always try to be respectful of the opinions of others.  Also, I always try not offend others with my comments. If I am honest,  I am bothered by people who call themselves "Direct Persons" and they only say violent ...

Postgraduate Studies

Hi classmates :)!  Today, I want to tell you about my study project after finishing university. I am currently studying third year of Psychology. Honestly, for me it's important not to make ideas or projects in the long term, because there is a great possibility that other situations  will occur.  Anyway, I will like to extend my studies  in another country, specifically in the United States, Florida. I would like to go to study in this country, because my boyfriend, currently, studies and works in this place, this way he could have him near me.  During the summer holidays 2020, I had the opportunity to visit this place for a mont and I really liked the calm and relaxed lifestyle, the beautiful landscapes, beaches, weather and the different panoramas to do. I think that the lifestyle of this place is very different that Santiago of Chile, and I like that.    Obviously, to realize this dream, I must learn to speak, write and listen English, so this is o...

The Power of Meditation

The video “The Scientific Power of Meditation” speaks form a scientific perspective. Answer the question , how does meditation affect your body ?      It’s notes that when a person meditates, their brain shows less anxiety and depression and more tolerance for pain. Meditation also increases memory , Self – awareness and goal setting .      When comparing the brains of Buddhist Monks and new meditators, higher levels of alpha wave levels are shown in the monks, this is related to less negative feelings, tension, sadness and anger.      In addition to other benefits, meditation is related to the more presence of gray matter in the areas of the brain in relation to learning, memory and emotional regulation. Meditation generates changes in the Amygdala, this is reflected in less stress and fear.      People who meditate produce more antibodies and have greater immune function. At the cellular level, m...

A country I'd like to visit :)

Hi again, everyone! :) For me, it is very complicated to think only one country to travel to. I would like to know many countries in my life, and I hope I have the time and money to do it. If I had to choose one of the many places, I would choose Thailand. I would like to visit this country because I consider has a great historical, natural and cultural capital that interests me a lot. According to documentaries and Internet, Thailand is a country has many beautiful and interesting places, such as turquoise beaches, green landscapes and Buddhist temples. In addition, it has a gastronomy considered one of the best in the world. The culture of this country is amazing, the people are very respectful, religious and nature lovers. I would like to spend a lot of time getting to know the wonderful landscapes and beaches of Thailand. I wish could know the people of this country, their culture and religion. However, I would not like to live there permanently, because I thi...

Chile: Social Uprising

On October 14, 2019  began in Chile a great social movement, where secondary and university students organized to massive evasion of the Santiago Subway train ticket. The main reason was the increase in amount, from 800 chilean pesos to 830 chilean pesos (equivalent to a final value of 1,30 dollars). Four days later the radicalization of the social movement occurred, thousands of people took to the streets to protest, to demand social changes in various fields: Pension System, Health System, Social Inequality, Quality Education, Water Privatization, Abuse and Corruption of large companies and politicians, among many others. The motto: "It's not for 30 pesos, it's for 30 years." Then October 19, 2019, the president Sebastián Piñera, declared a "State of emergency", wich allowed the military to take charge of public order. Two days later, the president said: "We are at war against a powerful enemy". From this moment the repression in Chile to th...

My favourite memory of the year

Hello everyone! Today I will write about my favorite memory of the year.  One of the most beautiful memories I have of this year, are the holidays I had in Licanray with my family. During the days we were there, we were know different places in southern Chile, such as Puerto Fuy, Coñaripe, Pucón and Villarica. It was a very nice trip for us, because we contacted each other a lot as a family. One of the most beautiful experiences I had on that trip, was that we swam together in the Lake during the night and seeing the beautiful stars. In addition, we ate and drank a lot. We drank a lot of beer haha! For this reason, everyone when we arrived in Santiago had to start diet :( My dog Apollo was the member of the family he enjoyed the most. He swam in the rivers and lakes and ran until he ran out of air! Thank you very much for reading me!

My photo in pole dance

Hello classmates! Today I write about a photo that I like a lot. This photo is very important to me because it shows the sport that I do. In this picture I am with my pole friends Daniela and Francisca. This photo was taken three days ago, by my pole teacher, Johanna (A venezuelan pole woman, very strong and flexible). This picture shows one of the rehearsals that we had for the future presentation that will be on Saturday, October 12.  I love this picture because it shows the effort and persistence that we have in our practices. Also, I like it because I'm with my two pole friends, who have become in a good and important friends in my life.  I have practice this sport for one year and I'm very happy to practice this. I think, this picture shows my taste and happiness when I am practicing it.  Thanks for reading me!

Why I chose Psychology

Hi classmates! Today I will write about because I'm decided to study Psychology.  When I was a little girl, I really liked a lot the idea that my work in the future was in hairdressing. I really liked combing and making haircuts to my dolls!  Also, when I was 10 years old I'm dreamed of being president of Chile, however, I had little time this idea in my head. As I started focusing on choosing one career in high school, I realized that I really liked to paint, draw and design. I really enjoyed art classes at school. For this reason, I decided to go to study Architecture at the University of Chile, however, in my second year of studies, I realized that my true vocation was Psychology. I' m decided to retire from Architecture and enter in 2018 to study Psychology at the same university. In this career I am very happy, I like what I study and what I read. I consider that Psychology is a very interesting discipline. In the future,  I would like to work in Clini...
