Hi classmates馃憖 I hope you are fine
Today I will talk to you about the topic that bring us together in this blog: English.
First, I want to say that for me English is a difficult subject. When I studied at school, I always felt anxious about the English subject. I did not understand the language and I was nervous to speak it, so, generally, I avoided all situations related to English (For example, I never watched subtitled movies).
Now, I think maybe I felt that way because my school never gave me a good English base.
For a long time, I didn’t like or find useful to speak English. However, this situation changed when I traveled to the United States. In this moment I felt very vulnerable, because I could not communicate or understand people. For this reason, when I returned to Chile I thought: “Wow, I really need to speak English, I have to learn”.
Also, on this trip I realized that it was more difficult for me to speak that to understand English. For example, sometimes I understood what some people said in supermarkets.
Honestly, I don’t know British English at all. So, superficially, I think British English it is more complex than American English. With the naked eye, the British English is more formal than American English, also, the British English has a more difficult accent than American English.
Finally, I really hope I can learn to speak, write and understand English in the future. Also, I hope that in Chile will be more accessible to learn this language.
See you in the next post!
Regards, Catalina Recabal
